Today we want to introduce you to Wade. He is a patient and a researcher, and when Wade comes into the office, he always teaches us something.

We’ve learned way more from our patients than we ever learned in school.

We’re excited for Wade to tell you his story. It’s inspiring for everyone.

The Early Days: His mother was a baker, so he grew up eating a lot of baked goods. His family always grew a big garden, so lots of fruits and vegetables. And of course, the Midwest staples of meat and potatoes.

He worked for Coachman Travel Trailers, but when gas prices jumped, they went out of business. He decided to leave Michigan. He sold everything he had, jumped on a motorcycle, and wasn’t sure where he was going. He wanted to be near the mountains. He ended up in Jackson Hole in 1977.

He sold his motorcycle for a school bus. He lived in the bus and managed a campground in Jackson.

Next, he went into construction.

Health Struggles Begin: He was a healthy guy until 2010 when he first saw the late Dr. West. He was an alcoholic. He had adrenal fatigue. He saw his blood under the microscope, and it was not healthy. He had parasites and inflammation.

Dr. West gave him vitamins. In 2017, he couldn’t move his arms and wrists because of extreme inflammation. He drastically changed his diet. He did not want to continue on this health decline.

He studies the Bible, focusing on mental and emotional health as well as physical health. He’s very busy with working in construction.

Diabetes Diagnosis and Natural Healing: In 2023, he came back to the West Clinic for help with diabetes. No matter what he did, he could not control his blood sugar.

His levels would get up to 500+. High cholesterol. Blood pressure issues.

They wanted to put him on multiple medications, but Wade wanted to use a more natural approach.

He has always been a researcher. He dives into diabetes and discovers.

He took insulin, and his blood sugar dropped too low—into the 40s. They told him to eat a candy bar to bring it back up.

He felt like no one was really helping him. They told him to follow the food pyramid. He decided he was better off figuring it out on his own.

He realized the standard American diet was crippling him.

Wade’s Daily Diet:

  • Eggs

  • Turkey bacon

  • Avocado

  • Skips lunch

  • Eats dinner at 3 or 4 PM

  • Burger

  • Water

  • Collagen

  • Methylene Blue

This diet keeps his blood sugar stable. Now he regulates at 170 instead of 280.

He does intermittent fasting. He has to be careful what he eats in the morning. He is not on insulin now.

He manages his blood sugar by knowing his body. On Saturdays, he fasts all day and eats very little at the end of the day.

Influences and Research: Dr. Daniel Brownstein is where Wade gets a lot of his literature from.

He wrote an interesting article during COVID-19 that changed Dr. West’s perspective. The article said he wasn’t scared of COVID-19, and you shouldn’t be either. It’s all about immune system health—focus on health.

Mike Adams - The Health Ranger.

Wade dedicates his days to studying. He doesn’t have a TV. He is constantly learning new things.

Managing Health and Supplements: There are times when he still feels fatigued or has issues he’s trying to pinpoint. He takes 10 mg of melatonin per day to help with his sleep.

He religiously takes his regimen of vitamins Dr. West has prescribed for him.

Top Supplements for Diabetes Management:

Brain function has improved. He is constantly exercising his brain.

Exercise Routine:

  • Cross-country skiing

  • Walking

  • Running stairs

  • Shoveling snow

The Importance of Movement: The book, In Praise of Walking states that our ancestors walked 17-20 miles per day. No one does that anymore. The book is fascinating. Walking helps your body orient to the horizon and exercises the muscles.

Movement helps the body detox and helps his blood sugar balance better.

Wade’s Health Breakthroughs: Wade has created his own rules for health and follows them diligently.

  • He has cut his blood sugar levels in half—without the use of insulin or metformin. The metformin makes him extremely sick and nauseous.

  • He has gotten his blood pressure to regulate.

  • Memory is important to Wade.

A Setback and Recovery: He picked up a viral infection that lingered for a long time. His fatigue came back.

He experienced:

  • Dizziness

  • Ringing in his ears

  • Fatigue

  • Vision problems

  • Headaches

  • Muscle cramps at night

  • Neuropathy

  • Pinched nerve in the back

The ozone treatments helped the numbness go away temporarily. Then, all of a sudden, he had a myriad of symptoms.

He came back to the West Clinic. His blood did not look healthy—it was sticky, and the white blood cells seemed to be low.

He did ozone, IV treatments, and home nutritional therapy. The blood started to look better, and Wade started to feel better.

Adrenal Health and Resilience: Adrenal support: he is learning more and more about cortisol and adrenal health.

The West Clinic has helped Wade so much. He says if it weren’t for the clinic, he may not be here.

A Relentless Pursuit of Health: Wade is relentless in learning about his health. He refuses to become his diagnosis.

Lesson: Silver Lining: Take control of your body. There are a lot of poisons out there. Avoid as many toxins as you can.

It all comes down to what you eat. Choose your stress. Let yourself be happy.

Wade is inspiring because he made the choice to take control of his health. Take control of your own health—no one knows your body as well as you do.

Dr. West’s Reflection: “We don’t know everything, and we love it when Wade comes in and brings us new research. It’s patients like Wade who make us better doctors.”
