Today I wanted to talk about my recent experience with a three-day smoothie detox. 

I decided to try a 3-day smoothie detox. And let me tell you it was well worth it. I even gave up coffee for three days and that was way harder than not eating! 

How it works: Three smoothies- three times a day- for three days. 

 

The benefits: 

  • I didn’t feel hungry and stopped my sugar cravings
  • It helped my mental state around food (I noticed more when I stress eat or eat when I'm bored) 
  • Jump started my metabolism and I lost a couple of pounds
  • I felt refreshed, had more energy, and felt less toxic 
  • It cleaned out my GI system 
  • Gave my body tons of nutrients that I wasn’t getting just eating regular meals
  • Felt less bloated and heavy

I started with the recipes listed below but changed them up just a bit for a little more variety by day three.

The hardest part for me was skipping dinner, breakfast and lunch didn’t bother me too much. Once you get past the mental part of not eating solid foods, it becomes much easier. 

I am planning on doing this again this month!

Here are the recipes: 

Start with Green tea with lemon when you wake up 

Breakfast Smoothie: 

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup raspberries 
  • 1 banana 
  • 1/4 cup spinach 
  • 1 tbs. Almond butter 
  • 2 tsp. Fresh lemon juice 

 

Lunch Smoothie: 

  • 1/2 cup almond milk 
  • 4 celery stalks (you should juice the celery first or you get a strange texture) 
  • 1 cucumber 
  • 1 cup kale 
  • 1/2 green apple 
  • 1/2 squeezed lime 
  • 1 tbs coconut oil 
  • 1 cup pineapple 

 

Dinner Smoothie 

  • 1 1/2 cups coconut water 
  • 1 cup blueberries 
  • 1/2 cup mango 
  • 1 cup kale 
  • 1 tbs. lemon juice 
  • 1/4 avocado 
  • 1/4 cayenne pepper 
  • 1 tbsp flaxseed 

 

I continued taking all of my supplements during the detox. 

During this detox, I had to drink a LOT of water! It also helped to soak in a detox bath. 

If you feel like you need a reset, clean out, and want to feel better overall, I would recommend trying this. Make sure you put yourself in the right mindset before you start and stick to it!
